My Wound Is Finished. Say What?

Children have a way of saying things that really have you rolling all over with laughter. Consider what our youngest son said to me yesterday morning just after waking up: “Dad, see, my wound is finished.”

What do you make of that?

I checked the hand he was showing me and could not, for the life of me, make out what he was saying. So, in typical fashion of human nature, my three year old darts out of the bedroom seeking an audience which would appreciate his new found discovery: mum.

I was to learn later on that he had burned himself on the stove a day before. It wasn’t a serious burn, although the crying was something else! By the time I got home, the incident was all forgotten and life was back to normal.

So his saying “My wound is finished” should have actually been “my wound is healed”

Yes I know, but he really tried.

While I laughed at the whole incident yesterday, it dawned on me that I am really not that much different. I have my own vocabulary limitations when it comes to expressing myself before God in prayer but he doesn’t give up on me. He knows me so well that I don’t even have to give him the history of a,b,c for him to understand. In fact, he goes further to help me express what it is I want to say!

You don’t believe me?

Read Romans 8:27

Now isn’t God really nice?

My wound is finished…
