This a verse that is most often quoted in those tough or even tragic times. Many have used this verse to explain that bad things come from God. And frankly, there were times I was going through tough times when I did not want anyone to quote Romans 8:28. 

Shocking, I know. We have lots of material that tells us to ask God to bless us. I am talking about the prayer of Jabez, Jacob wrestling with the angel and on and on. The reason I am proposing that we should not be praying to God to bless us as today’s Christian has to do with how we focus on what we want him to do for us and we do not seem to take time to talk about what he has done already and how much of that is a blessing. It will change everything.

Here is something I have been thinking of: the new year begins and the preachers, pastors, prophets etc make very bold declarations of this year being the year of prosperity or increase and so on. We all shout a  hearty “Amen!”

In this series, we come to a crucial part that most people usually opt away from for various reasons. And yet this is one of the most revealing concept that we all have to grapple with at one time or another in our lives.
